I’ve made a conscious decision that I would never audition for a stereotypical role. Turn down stereotypical auditions for a lot of roles in American Television. I don't want to be typecasted as a cab driver, terrorist, snake charmer. I won’t play a stereotypical role if my agents ask me. But for me personally, I want to prove a point that I can play a Series Regular or Guest Star Attorney role on CBS The Bull, NBC Law and Order SVU, USA Suits, or any other procedural drama where the script demands it. I wear a suit, dress shirt, and tie five days a week. The casting director perceives me as an Attorney at Law when I walk into an audition room. A lot of work still needs to be done in casting Indian Americans in Attorney roles. Hollywood is changing. The thinking of casting Indian American Actors in Attorney roles is different than it was ten, twenty, or thirty years ago.
